We're a non-profit organisation at the edge of the Guatemalan Maya Biosphere,
working towards a resilient future for our natural ecosystems, rural communities, and displaced peoples.

Sol y Verde is a rural grassroots project and registered non-profit focused on serving the vulnerable communities of rural Guatemala through agroecology and bioconstruction practices.
We work with women, children, displaced individuals, and other groups affected by eco-political tensions in Central America & the effects of climate change. Through demonstrative projects, education, and training, we do:

1. Reforestation and agroecology
We reforest our jungle landscape, propagate endangered plant species, and support local farmers to transition to regenerative practices. We are establishing an agroforestry farm, with organic fruits and vegetables, using permaculture practices.

2. Placemaking through bioconstruction
We build with our local community in ways that are accessible, sustainable, and equipped to face ecological and economic challenges through materials that are sourced regeneratively and directly from our land.

3. Community support and education
We believe that collaboration and education are pillars to resilient communities. We provide a safe and supportive space for locals and vulnerable individuals. Our female-led group, Fronteras Entretejidas, empowers local women through crafts, planting, construction, and companionship.
