Volunteer with us
We have hosted over 120 volunteers since Autumn 2022 and we are always keen to grow our global green community! If you’d like to come share time, expertise and laughter with our local community, please send us a volunteering application.
Our basic requirements for volunteers are conversational Spanish and experience with farming, permaculture, construction or education.
We are particularly looking for volunteers with carpentry skills or people who are comfortable co-leading educational sessions with children.

As a charitable organisation, we depend on grants and donations to continue our work. It is thanks to people like you that Sol y Verde exists - very little goes a long way! Visit us
Since 2022 we have owned a modest 6.2 acres near the rural village of Paxcaman, within the last forest fragment remaining in the local area. Originally destined to become a landfill site, when we took on our land we inherited 3 acres of deforested cattle pasture alongside 3.2 acres of degraded forest, both damaged from years of fires and overgrazing.
We offer guided tours of the site and workshops on bioconstruction or nature restoration to tourists and foreign visitors. We require visits to be booked in advance to ensure our team is available and onsite.
If you are not from Central America, donation is kindly asked for, to help support our work and cover our costs. If you cannot afford a donation please talk to us and we will sort something out, no one should be denied education for lack of money!
We offer educational programmes, drop in visits and tours free of charge to all local Guatemalans.
